Two Ways to Connect

We have two business models. One where we directly charge traders for access to our services, and the other where we charge event organisers and the service is free at the point of use.

Model 1: Festival Traders Pay Direct

The Simplest Setup

The WiFi Wagon operates from the back of our sister company’s trade pitch—DD Practical LeatherCraft. We set up our system entirely within our own pitch, providing WiFi coverage of approximately 50 metres in every direction using a single access point mounted on top of our van.

A Customer is making a card payment in a trade stall at a festival. The vendor is holding her card machine in her hand, we can see there is a small tatoo on her wrist and she is wearing several bracelets. The Customer is offering her card to the machine in order to complete a contactless transaction. Through the open door in the background, we can see crowds enjoying themselves; there are indistinct tents, stalls and flags in the distance.

How It Works

Traders pay us directly on the day—either cash or card. You’ll receive a unique code valid for the entire festival duration (typically 4 days for a weekend event, including setup and breakdown). We can provide email receipts for your records if needed.

What We Need From Festival Organisers

  • A complimentary or reduced-fee pitch for The WiFi Wagon /DD Practical Leathercraft. (One single pitch).
  • Space to mount additional WiFi points to extend range and improve reliability (ideally 3–4 metres high—festoon poles work perfectly for this).
  • A mention of us in pre-event literature sent to traders, so they know we’re the official trader WiFi provider.

Extending Your Coverage

We can run network cables along festoon lines to power additional WiFi points directly from our van, or we can establish a wireless link and power points locally from a standard 13A plug—whatever works best for your event layout.

Model 2: Free to Access WiFi

For Private Parties, Weddings & Corporate Events

We charge the event organiser directly, and provide a fast, secure, free-to-use WiFi service for all your guests. This model works perfectly for remote locations where connectivity would otherwise be unavailable.

Customisation & Branding

  • Custom network names: Your WiFi network can be branded to suit the event—”Alex and Sam’s Wedding”, “YourCompany_WiFi”, “EventName_Public_WiFi”.
  • Captive portal: Users connect through a simple click-to-connect interface (similar to coffee shops and hotels).
  • Portal branding: We can brand the portal with your event details for an additional fee, or replace it with a simple QR code for scanning.
  • Data collection: Optionally add name and email fields to the portal if you’d like to harvest GDPR complient guest data for future communications.
  • QR code branding: Customise the QR code to match your event aesthetic

What We Require

  • Somewhere to park our van with a clear 100-degree view of the sky.
  • Close proximity to the area requiring WiFi coverage.
  • Discussion of exact WiFi point placement on an event-by-event basis.
A mobile phone displays a customised WiFi captive portal at an outdoor wedding. The phone screen reads 'Alex and Sam's Wedding WiFi' with a Connect Button below it. In the background, guests mingle under festoon lights and trees in a lush, eco-friendly setting. A rustic wooden bar is visible in the background. Clear skys and golden hour lighting create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Pricing

The cost depends on three factors: The Duration of service required, the anticipated number of users and the size of the area to be covered.

We’ll discuss the specifics with you during the planning phase to provide an accurate quote.
